چکیده
Tannery wastewater is composed of a complex mixture organic and inorganic components from various processes that can critically pollute the environment, especially water bodies if discharged without treatment. In this study, integrated vesicular basalt rock local plant species were used to establish horizontal subsurface flow constructed wetland system investigate treatment efficiency tannery wastewater. Four pilot units vegetated with P. purpureum , T. domingensis C. latifolius E. pyramidalis fifth unit was left unvegetated (control). The in systems effective removing total chromium (Cr), chemical oxygen demand (COD), 5-day biological (BOD 5 ) inflow removal reached up 99.38, 84.03, 80.32% for Cr, COD, BOD respectively, 6 days hydraulic retention time (HRT). suspended solid (TSS), phosphorus (TP), nitrate (NO 3 − maximum 70.59, 62.32, 71.23%, respectively. This treating wastewater, which below Ethiopian surface standard discharge limit set (200 mg L −1 ), COD (500 Cr (2 NO (20 TSS (50 TP (10 ).

Wastewaters from leather processing are very complex and lead to water pollution if discharged untreated, especially due to its high organic loading. In this study the survival of different plant species in subsurface horizontal flow constructed wetlands receiving tannery wastewater was investigated. Five pilot units were vegetated with Canna indica, Typha latifolia, Phragmites australis, Steno...
متن کاملWastewater Treatment with Vertical Flow Constructed Wetland
Water is one of the most important elements involved in the creation and development of healthy life. Haphazard disposal of untreated wastewater from households as well as institutions and industry is causing severe deterioration of water bodies in many urban areas in the developing world. There are several methods to treat the municipal wastewater for intended use. One of the methods of the tr...
متن کاملA Hybrid Constructed Wetland System for Decentralized Wastewater Treatment
Constructed wetland technology has been widely applied around the world to treat domestic wastewaters from the single family home to small communities. Constructed wetlands can be classified as either surface flow wetlands (similar to natural wetlands) or subsurface flow wetlands, where the wastewater flows through a media. Subsurface flow constructed wetlands can either be horizontal flow syst...

Conventional oil sewage treatment methods can achieve satisfactory removal efficiency, but energy consumption problems during the process of oil sewage treatment are worth attention. The integration of a constructed wetland reactor and a microbial fuel cell reactor (CW-MFC) to treat oil-contaminated wastewater, compared with a microbial fuel cell reactor (MFC) alone and a constructed wetland re...

18 This work aimed at determining the amount of energy that can be harvested by 19 implementing microbial fuel cells (MFC) in horizontal subsurface constructed wetlands 20 (HSSF CWs) during the treatment of real domestic wastewater. To this aim, MFC were 21 implemented in a pilot plant based on two HSSF CW, one fed with primary settled 22 wastewater (Settler line) and the other fed with the eff...
